The Sponge Brush by Haas - Why you will love it!

Washing your horse is a key step in any thorough grooming routine. When sweat and grime build up, out come the hose and horse shampoo—for good reason.

  • Shampooing every few weeks helps prevent skin irritations.
  • During show season, regular (but not excessive) baths contribute to a gleaming, show-ready coat.

But what, beyond water and a quality horse shampoo, makes the process not just effective—but easier?

Enter the Haas Sponge Brush!

This clever shampoo brush from Haas features a durable sponge paired with a bristle edge that lifts hidden dirt a standard sponge can’t reach. It’s a grooming upgrade that boosts both efficiency and cleanliness.

How to use the Haas Sponge Brush

  1. Start with a quick curry and brush to loosen surface dirt—this makes washing far more effective.
  2. Thoroughly wet your horse using a hose shower nozzle.
    • If you're using cold water, begin with the legs and lower neck to ease the temperature shift.
  3. Mix shampoo: Combine ½ cup of shampoo with 2.5 gallons of water (about half a stall bucket).
  4. Briefly submerge the tail in the shampoo mixture and let it soak while you wash.
  5. Apply soapy water to the mane using a sponge and let it soak while you wash.
  6. Grab your Haas Sponge Brush and begin washing from head and neck, working with the hair growth.
  7. Spot treat stains: Apply small amounts of shampoo to stains and use the bristle edge to lift them.
  8. Massage shampoo into the mane and tail, including dock and crest.
  9. Rinse thoroughly—keep going until there's no trace of shampoo.
  10. Finish with a sweat scraper. We love the ergonomically shaped Effol Orca for this important final step!

Following this routine, you'll get your horse sparkling clean in no time—without wasting shampoo or effort.

Enjoy your horse!
